The New York Jets let their lead slip away in the fourth quarter as they fell behind and lost to the Los Angeles Rams 19-9 Sunday at Met Life stadium.

It was one of their coldest games of the season so far, but some Jets players felt unaffected by the weather. However, as the game progressed and the sun set, errors occurred including a fumble, a missed field goal attempt and muffed punt, which did not help the Jets last minute efforts.

“The rhythm disappeared I think,” Aaron Rodgers said about the successful 99-yard drive to start. “That drive, everybody touched the ball. You know, I feel like we had a couple good runs. Tae (Davante Adams) had a catch, G (Garrett Wilson) had a catch, Conch (Tyler Conklin) had a couple.“

Adams caught seven of 13 passes for 68-yards in the game. “No, we weren’t dropping the ball,” he answered about the weather. “It looked like a normal game.”

Wilson received six of seven passes for 54-yards and Conklin caught five of seven passes for 59 yards. “After that they kind of just set back and two-eyed most of the game,” Rodgers said. “We didn’t run the ball super efficiently and …and you know didn’t throw it very efficiently from that point forward either.”

The Jets scored on their first possession. Rodgers passed to Adams for 11-yards for the first touchdown of the game. Kicker Anders Carlson missed the attempt at the extra point. The Jets quickly got the ball back, as the Rams possession led into the second quarter, when cornerback Tony Adams intercepted Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, New York was unable to take advantage of the opportunity. Los Angeles scored on their next possession as running back Kyren Williams ran for a touchdown, but kicker Joshua Karty missed the field goal attempt. Carlson made a field goal before the end of the quarter as New York went to halftime ahead 9-6.

It was a scoreless 3rd quarter for both teams. The Jets and Rams were tied at 9 after a field goal by Karty to start the 4th quarter. It was close to 22 degrees with about 12:37 minutes remaining on the clock at timeout following the kickoff. New York had the possession when Rodgers was sacked. Los Angeles recovered the ball and soon scored a touchdown. Karty’s kick was good for the extra point. He scored a field goal on the team’s next possession. Carlson missed an attempt at the extra point on the Jets next possession. The Rams were unable to score and punted to the Jets, when wide receiver Xavier Gipson dropped the pass and Los Angeles recovered the ball ending the game.

Stafford completed 14 of 19 passes for 19-yards. Rodgers completed 28 of 42 passes for 256-yards, three zero interceptions and was sacked once. “I didn’t feel like the pass rush was super affected today,” Rodgers said about the changes from throwing in Jacksonville, FL. (last week when they won 32-25 win) compared to New York’s cold temperatures. “I feel like our line blocked them up really good all day. I had plenty of time. We just didn’t get open.”

“They are fighting,” said Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich about the positive take aways from the game. “Ultimately, that locker room is staying together and they’re finishing.”

The Jets have two games remaining and a 4-11 record after Sunday’s loss.

“You gotta figure out what it means to be a professional, ” Rodgers said. “I think that’s an important part of building culture and for the last two weeks.”
