Will Smith and his King Richard co-star Aunjanue Ellis appeared at the 37th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Sunday. As the pair spoke to moderator Scott Feinberg, something suddenly happened in the audience that drew attention. It was a scuffle that ended well, with Smith cracking jokes to calm the situation.

Everything started well with Smith saying he was in a happy mood. The star actor walked his audience down his career path, telling them how he made it to be the movie star that he is.

Everyone seemed to be caught up in Smith’s story, especially when he revealed that he’d to go without drinking, using drugs, or partying on weekends just so that he could be in the best shape to build his career.

Somewhere in the middle of the conversation, a scuffle broke out in the audience that drew all the attention. Someone had a drink poured on them and everyone was trying to get an idea of what was going on.

Smith and Feinberg looked on at the direction of the commotion, with Smith asking if the person was OK.

“Is she OK?” Smith said as he tried to figure out what was really going on.

The person replied that someone “totally just poured a drink on us because we said, ‘This is f**king amazing.’ Apparently, we’re being too loud. But we love you, Will.”

Ellis seemed flabbergasted by the incident as Smith got a joke out of it.

“That’s why it’s really important to have white audiences, ’cause that would have gone very differently at either place where we grew up. So I wanna commend the white people for how y’all handled that. You wanna act out the scene, how it would’ve been if someone poured a drink on you?” Smith told Ellis.
