*Angelina Gray the mother of Kassidy Jones, the 13-year-old African American girl who was viciously attacked and brutally beaten inside a McDonald’s in Harbor City (in the Los Angeles area) on Sept 6 by Ariana Lauifi a 33-year-old wife and mother of seven children officially appealed directly to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon to upgrade the charges against Lauifi back to felony child abuse, per a press release from family rep, Najee Ali of Project Islamic Hope.
The release also notes that a press conference is scheduled for today (10-26-23) at 4pm (Pacific) at the McDonald’s at 1728 Lomita Blvd. in Lomita, CA where the incident happened.
Jones and her mother are shocked and outraged that Long Beach Head District Attorney Stephanie Mire reduced the original charge of felony child abuse that Lauifi was originally facing to a misdemeanor at her arraignment on October 23rd.
Lauifi was arrested on Sept 28th after being on the run for 3 weeks and originally charged with suspicion of felony child abuse and was released after posting $100,000 bail according to jail records.
“I remain undeterred to get justice for my daughter Kassidy and that’s why I’m appealing personally to District Attorney George Gascon and District Attorney Stephanie Mire to reinstate felony charges against Ariana Lauifi, Gray said. “A misdemeanor charge sends a message that the lives and safety of young Black girls don’t really matter to those in power. Kassidy is a 4.0 honor roll student who has suffered tremendous pain and is still undergoing tremendous trauma.”
“This misdemeanor charge amounts to nothing but a slap on the wrist for a child beater I was attacked unprovoked by Ariana Lauifi after exiting the McDonald’s restroom, said Kassidy Jones. “This woman had every opportunity to leave McDonald’s safely with her children. Instead, she stared at me and yelled at me saying ‘I fight kids’ and then charged at me, grabbing my arms and beating me all over the floor in McDonald’s as everyone inside including the managers and staff did nothing to help me. Everyone just watched.”
