LOS ANGELES, CA The 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) honoring the best achievements in film and television performances, once again showed a lack of diversity and people of color went home empty handed.

  The awards, held  at the legendary Shrine Auditorium on January 19, 2020 and voted on by SAF-AFTRA members,  overlooked such notables as Mahershala Ali, Cynthia Erivo, Jharrel Jerome, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lopez, Calib McLaughlin and Jamie Foxx; except Sterling K. Brown who won as part of the best ensemble in a comedy series for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  Ironically, the big winner of the evening was Bong Joon Ho’s critically acclaimed South Korean film, Parasite, which became the first foreign-language film ever to win the best ensemble prize. 

  Other highlights of the evening included the presentation of the well-deserved Life Achievement Award to iconic actor Robert De Niro by Leonardo DiCaprio; and fan favorite Brad Pitt who won best supporting actor for his excellent work in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
