A Massachusetts man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting a teen, who who he allegedly abused within a relationship, just hours before she was set to attend her middle school graduation nearly two weeks ago.
Trevor Bady, 21, of Tewksbury, is accused of killing Ahliana Dickey, 15, inside her home in Lowell, police said, according to a news release from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
CBS News reported that Bady was arraigned in Lowell District Court on June 18 and was held without bail on multiple charges, including murder, armed home invasion and possession of a firearm.
Police discovered that Dickey had been in an abusive relationship with Bady, during which he allegedly assaulted her and made threats against her safety. She was set to attend her eighth-grade graduation on June 14, but her family members grew concerned and went looking for her when she did not appear.
The news release states that Dickey’s grandmother went to her first-floor apartment around 6:10 p.m. on June 14 and called Lowell Police, saying she had been found. When officers arrived, they discovered Dickey’s body on the bedroom floor with gunshot wounds.
In the early morning of June 14, a neighbor called the police to report a man and woman had been fighting outside across the street. The caller recalled hearing the woman screaming, “Get off me, get away from me, I don’t want to be with you anymore,” the news release states. The caller also reported hearing gunshots.
