Marilyn Jean Fields, a 66-year-old Black woman from North Carolina renowned in her community for her volunteer work, admits she violated the law when she parked in the fire lane in front of a Piggly Wiggly supermarket on a rainy day to purchase a loaf of bread – along with several other cars that were also illegally parked that day.

But she said that did not justify a 22-year-old Kinston police officer named Karl “Blake” Davis from pulling her out of the car, slamming her against her car, then forcing her face down on the asphalt as he sat on top of her, ordering her to “stop resisting.”

“I’m not resisting,” Fields can be heard saying on a video recorded by a witness as the cop sits with his full weight on top of her.

The incident took place on July 18 at about 6:50 p.m. after Fields pulled up to the grocery store during the pouring rain to buy a loaf of bread and noticed other cars parked in the fire lane which is a common occurrence in that city, she said.

SMH: Video Shows Teacher Dragging Kindergartner Down The Hallway https://philadelphiaobserver.com/smh-video-shows-teacher-dragging-kindergartner-down-the-hallway/ Mon, 08 Apr 2024 18:38:18 +0000 https://philadelphiaobserver.com/?p=5861

Teaching is never an easy job, especially when you work withchildren. However, those children are also just trying to figure out how to deal with intense emotions and more than likely don’t know how to express them. Well, one teacher’s reaction to a student’s tantrum led her to handcuffs.

A Texas mother is finally speaking out about the former special education teacher who pleaded guilty to dragging her 5-year-old son child by his ankle down a hallway.

The incident happened back in 2022. The student was enrolled in the Early Childhood Special Education program at Tipps Elementary School when he threw a tantrum during gym class after he decided he didn’t want to a game other students were playing, according to court documents.

In the hallway, the boy laid on the floor, kicking and screaming (as children who have tantrums do). Then, surveillance camera footage shows Amber Hall, the teacher, grab him by his ankles and pull him down the hallway as his back slid across tile and carpet floors.

Body Camera Footage Shows Moment Harris County Deputies Open Fire at Woman Inside Houston Apartment, Mistaking Her for Burglar https://philadelphiaobserver.com/body-camera-footage-shows-moment-harris-county-deputies-open-fire-at-woman-inside-houston-apartment-mistaking-her-for-burglar/ Wed, 21 Feb 2024 18:36:53 +0000 https://philadelphiaobserver.com/?p=5732

A Texas woman was shot multiple times by Harris County sheriff’s deputies while in her friend’s home earlier this month.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump likened it to the events that led to the death of Breonna Taylor in 2020. His client, 28-year-old Eboni Pouncy, was reportedly hit five times in the early hours of Feb. 3 and is now using a walker during her recovery process. Two of the bullets struck her in the chest area.

“Breathing too hard, laughing. Everything hurts,” Pouncy told KTRK. “I’m not able to be as attentive with my baby. She’s only 1. So that’s probably the hardest part.”

Pouncy and her friend, Laronda Berry, arrived at Berry’s home at the Woodforest apartment complex when they realized she had misplaced her keys, according to the reports. The duo were able to get inside by busting the window. A neighbor believed they were intruders and immediately reported it to deputies, who were already on the scene dealing with a separate issue.

When the deputies got to the apartment, they knocked at the door, which prompted Pouncy to walk toward it with her registered handgun. During her interview with KTRK, Pouncy claimed that she didn’t hear the deputies announce themselves and took out her weapon as a safety measure.

“We got into the house. We were watching TV. There was a knock at the door at that time, and I got up, and I grabbed my gun, and I went to go greet who was ever at the door,” she explained. “Because the window was broken, and I believed I was taking safety precaution at that time of night, and so I was just trying to do the right thing.”

Body camera footage posted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office shows two deputies approaching and knocking on the door: “Sheriff’s office,” one of them said.

While waiting for a response, the deputies moved away from the front of the door and stood where they could see inside the apartment through the window.

“Someone’s coming,” the deputy said.

*Several of Jonathan Majors’ text messages and an audio recording to his ex-girlfriend have been released amid his ongoing trial for domestic violence.

The newly released evidence includes a recording of the actor telling his ex, Grace Jabbari, she needs to act more like Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama. There’s also a clip of Majors threatening to kill himself, Variety reports.

The evidence was presented in court last week and made public by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Additionally, compelling footage shows the aftermath of the alleged altercation between Majors and Jabbari in March. The pair are seen tussling as they exit the vehicle. They struggle before Majors runs for his life like Forrest Gump through the streets of NYC, trying to escape her.  It’s quite possibly the best action sequence since the Montgomery Riverfront brawl. Watch the thrilling chase via the X/Twitter clip below.

During her testimony last week, Jabbari said she “felt like I was walking around on eggshells” during her volatile two-year relationship with Majors, The Washington Post reports. “I had to be perfect,” she stated.

As previously reported, Majors was arrested on March 25 in NYC following an alleged violent attack against Jabbari. The ex-couple was taking a private car from a Brooklyn party to their Chelsea apartment when she saw a text message on his phone that read, “Wish I was kissing you right now.”

When Jabbari snatched the phone out of his hands to see who sent the message, Majors “began grabbing the right side of Ms. Jabbari’s body and prying Ms. Jabbari’s right middle finger off the phone, causing bruising, swelling, and substantial pain,” per a 115-page legal filing obtained by Variety.
