It’s not that Big Blue didn’t have a chance at upsetting a team that many picked to be in the Final Four of the AFC. Giants quarterback was out due to the neck injury he suffered last week in Miami. In his last 2 starts, Jones was sacked 16 times. 13 year and ex-Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor was called into action. The game also saw the return of Giants Saquon Barkley who had missed the previous 3 games with a high ankle sprain. Defensively, New York played its best game of the year. Offensively, their malaise continued.

The Giants were pitching a shutout for the first three quarters taking a 6-0 lead on the strength of 2 Graham Gano field goals of 29 and 43 yards. They missed a golden opportunity to put more points right before the half when they had the ball on the Bills 1-yard line as a result of a Bills penalty. With no time outs left, Taylor changed the play, handing the ball off to Barkley who was quickly stuffed as the clock ran out coming away with no points. Head coach Brian Daboll could be seen expressing his disgust to Taylor as they headed to the locker room. “Had a play called,” Daboll said. “It was a run, action pass play and ended up alerting it to a run. Didn’t get it off.” Taylor took blame for the miscue saying,” that falls on me, as a quarterback, as a leader, as the one that’s communicating everything to everyone, got to be better in that situation.” Buffalo finally got on the board as quarterback Josh Allen found wide receiver Deonte Harty for the 3-yard touchdown pass taking a 7-6 lead. Gano connected on another 29-yard field goal regaling the lead at 9-7. Allen comes back and takes the team 75 yards in 12 plays, finding tight end Quintin Morris for the 15 yard touchdown reception taking a 14-9 lead.  That said, Big Blue had one last chance to steal the victory. After Bills field goal kicker Tyler Bass missed a 53 yards field goal, the Giants began their last drive on their own 43 yard line. Taylor gets them down to the Bills 9 yard line completing 9 passes. His 10th attempt to tight end Darren Waller was incomplete but Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard is called pass interference giving the Giants the ball on the 1 yard line. Taylor looks for Waller again but defensive Ta Johnson breaks up the pass as the Giants were looking for another pass interference call. They didn’t get it and saw their record drop to 1-5. Said Waller of the last play, “there was contact but I’m not somebody that’s going to get into what a call should have been or telling officials how to do their job because there’s a way for me to make that play and it wasn’t made, so that’s what l focus on. Giants Taylor finished completing 24 passes for 200 yards in 36 attempts. Barkley ran for 93 yards on 24 attempts and a long run of 34 yards. Bills Allen was 19-30 for 169 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The normally fleet footed Allen only ran for 11 yards. Allen found wide receiver Stefan Diggs 10 times for 100 yards. As of this past Tuesday, the status of Daniel Jones had not been determined when they host the Washington Commanders (3-3) Sunday afternoon. Washington is coming off a 24-16 road win over the Atlanta Falcons. Commander quarterback Sam Howell threw for 3 touchdowns. This is how bad the New York Football Giants have been after 6 games. They have lost 4 straight games. They have not seen the end zone in 3 consecutive games and have not crossed the plane in the first half in any games this year.  A team cannot win games by only kicking field goals.
